Chasin’ Rabbits Purple Cover Cream Review: Yellow Tone-Correcting Base

I already wrote about the Chasin’ Rabbits Glow Cover Cream, and it has stayed in my everyday makeup rotation because it works well when I don’t want to wear foundation. So of course I got curious about the Chasin’ Rabbits Purple Cover Cream from the same line.

This one is meant to take the yellow cast out of dull-looking skin while giving some pore blur and light coverage. I tried it on its own first, then started mixing it with the Glow version before work. That’s now the combination I reach for most.

Buying It at Olive Young

I bought the 35g Purple Cover Cream set at Olive Young for ₩13,600 during a sale. It came with the large lavender puff, which was a nice extra because this is the kind of base product I actually prefer to press in with a puff at the end.

I paid ₩20,000 for the Glow Cover Cream before, without a sale, so this felt like a much better deal. Olive Young promotions move around a lot, though, so I would treat ₩13,600 as the price I paid, not the standard price.

A Purple Base for Foundation-Free Days

Chasin’ Rabbits All About Blur Purple Cover Cream is a light-coverage purple tone-up base. In Korea, this kind of quick base makeup is often called 파데프리, meaning foundation-free. It’s for those low-effort makeup days when foundation feels like too much, but bare skin still feels a little unfinished.

The tube is 35g and has SPF50+ PA++++. I like having a base product and UV protection in the same tube, especially on rushed mornings. The finish is still closer to a tone-up base than to foundation, so I wouldn’t expect it to cover blemishes or redness the way a fuller-coverage base would.

How It Differs from the Glow Cover Cream

The Glow Cover Cream has a soft, warm-looking tone-up effect and a more dewy finish. The Purple Cover Cream has a lavender tint instead, so the point is more about color correction than simply adding glow.

I think the choice really comes down to what your skin looks like before makeup. If you like a warmer, softly glowing finish, the Glow version makes more sense. If yellow or sallow tone is what bothers you first, the Purple version is the more useful one.

Why the Purple Tone Worked for Me

Purple correctors are meant to knock back yellow tone, and that was exactly why I wanted to try this one. My skin has a warm, yellow-leaning undertone, so the Purple Cover Cream looked more natural on me than I expected once it was blended out.

The lavender color is obvious straight from the bottle, but it isn’t meant to stay lavender on the skin. It gradually melts into my skin tone and takes away a little of that dull, yellow cast without making me look pale or gray. On my skin, it ended up being the better match of the two cover creams.

SPF50+ in a Foundation-Free Base

With SPF50+ PA++++ built in, it makes sense as a quick morning base. It gives me a little tone correction and pore blur in the same step.

On an ordinary workday, I like reaching for one product instead of turning a five-minute routine into a project. But I wouldn’t rely on a thin layer of this alone for a long day outside; I still use enough sunscreen underneath when I know I’ll be in the sun.

The Puff and Bottle Details

The included puff was better than I expected: thick, soft, and cushioned enough that it doesn’t feel like a throwaway freebie when I press the product into my skin. I liked the puff that came with the Glow Cover Cream too, so I guess this is something Chasin’ Rabbits does well.

It isn’t essential if you already have a favorite puff, but I’ve been using this one rather than putting it aside as a random free gift. That says enough.

Open Chasin' Rabbits Purple Cover Cream bottle with a narrow nozzle for controlled dispensing

The cover cream itself is fairly fluid, so the narrow nozzle matters. If the opening were wider, it would be very easy to squeeze out more than I need.

Because the opening is small, I can dispense a little at a time. I give it a light shake first, then start with a small amount and add more only if I need it.

Hand Swatch: Texture, Tone Correction, and Finish

After shaking the bottle, I squeezed out a small amount onto the back of my hand. The color is a light lavender-purple, and the texture is noticeably more fluid than what I usually picture when something is called a cream.

It wasn’t runny, though. It was still easy to control, just light enough that I knew it would spread without dragging.

As I spread it with my fingers, it moved smoothly and didn’t feel stiff or dry. For a few seconds, the purple looks more obvious than I expected. Then it softens as it blends into the skin.

Watching it shift was oddly satisfying. The tint doesn’t disappear instantly; it slowly mixes with my skin tone, so I could tell before finishing with the puff whether it would actually suit my tone.

Finished Chasin' Rabbits Purple Cover Cream hand swatch after blending

Once it was fully blended, the obvious purple tone was gone. What stayed was a more even-looking tone and a very soft sheen, not a thick white cast or a flat matte layer. I felt comfortable wearing it on its own.

Lately, I’ve been mixing the Purple Cover Cream with the Glow version before work. The Purple side takes down the yellow tone, while the Glow side keeps the finish from looking too cool. I like the overall finish and the way it holds up through my commute.

The catch is coverage. This is a light base, so it won’t hide active breakouts, strong redness, or dark spots the way foundation can. For a foundation-free day, though, it gives me enough polish to look put together without making my face feel fully made up.
