Chasing Rabbit Glow Cover Cream: A No-Foundation Summer Base Review

Summer is getting closer in Korea, and my usual foundation has started to feel a little heavy. I normally wear foundation as my everyday base makeup, but once the weather gets hotter, I want something lighter that still makes my skin look a bit more even.

That’s how I ended up buying the Chasing Rabbit Glow Cover Cream. In Korea, people often call this kind of routine foundation-free (파데프리) makeup: less foundation, but not exactly bare skin. I used it every day for about a week, so this is my no-foundation summer base review.

Why I Picked It Up at Olive Young

I saw it at Olive Young for 20,000 won. It wasn’t on sale when I bought it, but I wanted to try it quickly, so I just brought it home. Even without a discount, it felt easier to justify than buying a new foundation, especially because I wanted something casual for everyday summer base makeup.

That was the real reason I picked it up. I wanted a no-foundation base that could do a little tone-up, a little cover, and still feel comfortable when the weather gets hot.

Cover, Tone-Up, and SPF in One Step

The idea is pretty simple: cover, tone-up, and UV protection in one step. The packaging shows SPF50+ PA++++, and the product name is Chasing Rabbit All About Glow Cover Cream.

I see it as base makeup first, sunscreen second. Not because the SPF doesn’t matter, but because the finish behaves more like a light makeup base than a normal sun cream. It gives some color correction and a more even-looking surface, which is exactly why I was curious about it.

35g and No Shade Number

The bottle is 35g. It’s not a huge amount, but I don’t use much each time, so I think it will last longer than it looks. A thin layer is enough for the kind of finish I want from this product.

There are no shade numbers, which made the decision easy. I didn’t have to stand there debating between a lighter or darker shade. On my skin, the tone-up looked natural and the color didn’t feel awkward or like it was floating on top.

The Puff and Bottle Details

The free jumbo puff was one of the best parts. It’s thick and soft, so when I press the product in, the finish looks cleaner and more even. I liked it more than I expected. It gives that neat, settled base look without needing much effort.

The cap twists open, and the opening is narrow, so it’s easy to control the amount. This matters because you really don’t need much. Also, this cover cream needs to be shaken before use. I keep forgetting things like this, so I’m writing it here for both of us.

Hand Swatch: Texture, Tone-Up, and Finish

This is my hand before applying it. My skin tone is on the darker side, and I have some visible pores, so I usually prefer base products that give tone-up and pore cover without making the color look too obvious.

The texture is slightly heavier than sunscreen but lighter than foundation. It spreads softly like a cream, but it doesn’t run like water, so it is easy to control with your fingers. I could blend it out comfortably without feeling like I had to rush.

Even when I roughly spread it with my fingers, the application was smooth. The spreadability is good, and it adheres better than I expected for something this light. The tone starts to look brighter and more even, but it doesn’t feel as heavy as foundation.

This is the part that made me think it would work well for summer daily makeup. It gives me enough of a base effect without that thick foundation feeling.

This is after finishing with the jumbo puff. The result looks natural, the tone is brighter, and the pores are covered to a decent level. Not completely erased, but softened enough that my skin looks more even.

I also liked that it didn’t lift, cling, or settle weirdly into texture. After using it every day for about a week, the wear was better than I expected too. Even after being out for a while, I didn’t notice obvious darkening, and it didn’t turn into that tired, heavy base feeling in the middle of the day.

What I Actually Think

I like it. For summer, this is exactly the kind of base product I reach for: cleaner than doing nothing, but still light. It gives natural tone-up, some pore cover, and a comfortable finish that doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a full base.

The coverage is still light, so if you want foundation-level correction, this won’t be enough by itself. You’d need concealer on spots or redness. But for light everyday base makeup, I think it makes sense.

I’ll probably use it throughout summer. If your summer base makeup goal is less foundation, but still presentable, this is the kind of product I mean.
