Mediheal Madecassoside Serum Review: Lightweight Blemish Care from Olive Young

Mediheal is a brand I mostly knew through sheet masks. I’ve used their masks before, but I didn’t really pay attention to their ampoules until I started seeing more of them in the Olive Young serum section.

I had just finished the serum I was using, so I finally bought the Mediheal Madecassoside Blemish Repair Serum. I wanted something light for summer, especially for days when my skin feels a little irritated from sun exposure and I still want to keep working on leftover blemish marks.

Buying It at Olive Young

I bought the single 40ml bottle at Olive Young for ₩14,600. There was also a 1+1 special set, which is definitely the better deal if you already know you like the product.

Since it was my first time trying this serum, I chose the single bottle instead. At that price, it felt easy enough to test without committing to two bottles right away.

The same 40ml Madecassoside serum is also available on Amazon. When I checked, it was around $22. Olive Young was cheaper for me because I bought it during a Korean sale, but Amazon is probably the easier option if you are ordering from outside Korea.

Why I Chose This One

Before this, I had been using the Medicube PDRN Pink Peptide Serum. I liked that one, but to me it felt more focused on elasticity and skin recovery.

This time, I wanted something a little more calming. My skin tends to get irritated more easily in summer, and after being outside, I notice small marks and uneven tone more. That’s why I went for the Madecassoside line instead of buying another PDRN serum.

A Lighter Blemish-Care Serum

This serum feels more focused on leftover marks, acne marks, and uneven tone than on rich nourishment. I don’t expect a serum to erase pigmentation quickly, but I do like having something in my routine that feels easy to use every day.

The texture is also a big part of why I chose it. It’s not a heavy ampoule that makes my skincare routine feel thicker. It feels closer to a watery hydrating serum, so it’s easy to layer before cream or makeup.

Madecassoside and cica were the main reasons I thought this would be a good summer serum. My skin can get warm and sensitive after being outside, so I wanted something that felt calming rather than rich.

It didn’t sting on my skin, and it’s been easy to keep in both my morning and night routine. It feels like a light calming serum rather than a heavy barrier cream, which is exactly what I wanted.

The other ingredient I paid attention to was niacinamide. I wanted something that could help with uneven tone and leftover marks while still feeling gentle enough for daily use.

For me, that’s the point of this serum: calming care from the madecassoside and cica direction, plus tone care from niacinamide. I’m using it as a steady daily serum, not something I expect to change my skin in a few days.

Texture, Absorption, and Finish

One drop of Mediheal Madecassoside serum on the back of a hand

On the back of my hand, one drop already shows how clear and watery the texture is. It’s not a sticky essence type at all. It feels light enough that if you tilt your hand, it starts to move almost like water.

That was the part I liked for morning skincare. It gives moisture without making my skin feel coated, so I can use it before makeup without feeling like I added too many layers.

When I spread it out, it glides easily and doesn’t pill or bunch up. It still feels fresh while applying, but not slippery or oily.

The absorption is quick enough that I don’t have to wait long before moving on to the next step. I need that in the morning.

After it absorbs, the finish is clean. No obvious shine, no sticky film, and no heavy residue. My skin just feels lightly hydrated and settled.

My skin has more oil, so I like how light this feels in summer. If your skin is dry, I wouldn’t use it as the final step. I would apply this as the serum step and then follow with a moisturizer.

I’ve been using it in both my morning and night routine, and so far it’s been comfortable with no irritation. If you want a light serum for calming care, blemish marks, and daily summer skincare, this is easy to keep using.
